Illegal hunters sentenced to three years

BANDAR LAMPUNG, Lampung: Three men were sentenced to between a
year and six months and three years in prison after being found
guilty of hunting illegally in the South Bukit Barisan National
Park in Tanggamus regency.

They were also fined Rp 300,000 (US$37) each.

Sukamto was sentenced to three years in prison, Badri to two
years and six months and Rudi to one year and six months. The
verdict was read out by presiding judge Gatot Susanto.

Meanwhile, the national park management and the West Lampung
Police have been cooperating in arresting hunters and illegal
loggers in the park.

The head of the national park, Tamen Sitorus, said on Friday
that the park and the police officers were working on 14 cases of
illegal logging and illegal trade in animals. -- Antara
