The Joint Criminal Investigation and Law Enforcement Task Force (Satgas Gakkum Lundup) of the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) has raided PT TSL in Sidoarjo, East Java, in connection with the illegal importation of handphones (HP) from China. The imported handphones were found to be not brand new and lacked Indonesian National Standards (SNI) certification.

This revelation underscores the National Police’s (Polri) commitment to supporting President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita programme, particularly the seventh Asta Cita, which focuses on strengthening political, legal, and bureaucratic reforms, as well as eradicating corruption, narcotics, gambling, and smuggling. Polri has subsequently established a task force for law enforcement against smuggling crimes that harm the state’s wealth, through a directive from the National Police Chief.

The case came to light after Bareskrim arrested two suspects involved in the illegal HP imports. The two suspects are initialled DCP and SJ.

“DCP Alias P, who played the role of the importer bringing goods into Indonesia in a non-new condition and without SNI certification,” stated the Director of Special Economic Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Ade Safri Simanjuntak, in his statement on Tuesday (21/4/2026).

In addition to PT TSL, Bareskrim raided five warehouses in Jakarta last week. The warehouses are located at Jl Kapuk Kayu Besar, North Jakarta; a shophouse on Jalan Pluit Barat, North Jakarta; Mutiara Palem shophouse, West Jakarta; Citra Garden Housing Cluster Green Papyrus shophouse on Boulevard Raya, West Jakarta; and Toho shophouse, North Jakarta. From the raids, Bareskrim seized various brands of HP, including iPhones.

“(Seized) 56,557 iPhone pieces (total value Rp 225,208,000,000), 1,625 Android pieces (total value Rp 5,387,500,000), and HP spare parts (batteries, chargers, cables, etc.) 18,574 pieces. Total 76,756 pieces with a total value of Rp 235,089,800,000,” said Ade.

Ade stated that the Gakkum Task Force Team of the Lundup Satgas Bareskrim Polri, formed by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, will continue to conduct sweeps at all entry points for goods across the Republic of Indonesia’s customs areas, whether by sea, land, or air. This is to ensure and guarantee that there are no more financial leakages to the state due to import practices involving under-invoicing, undeclared goods, or under-accounting.

“The National Police’s commitment to strict law enforcement against all forms of smuggling crimes to save the state’s wealth or recover state financial losses and prevent leakages in state financial receipts is a concrete manifestation of the National Police’s commitment to protecting the state’s/natural wealth, securing sources of state revenue, and impartial law enforcement to support national economic resilience, which is the foundation of state sovereignty,” added Ade.
