Illegal fees at sea

From Warta Kota

It is really very sad that certain members of the country's security forces impose illegal fees on the owners of small fishing vessels.

Usually when a fishing vessel leaves the Muara Baru Fish Auction Port to go fishing out at sea or returns to the port with its catch, it is stopped by security officers who ask to see the documents of the vessel. Strangely, even if the papers are in order, they will insist on being given between Rp 40,000 and Rp 100,000, otherwise they will take a few kilograms of the catch, depending on the kind of fish and the size of the vessel.

The relevant authorities must take action to stop the imposition of these illegal fees, otherwise foreign investors will be reluctant to invest in our country.
