On Aug. 15, 2003 I met my younger brother -- a Indonesian
migrant worker returning from Malaysia -- at terminal 3 of the
Sukarno-Hatta airport in Jakarta. I had previously sought
information on the airport system applying to visitors, so as to
avoid unnecessary trouble.

But the reality was quite different from what I had imagined.
Visitors were subject to various illegal fees at all counters,
thus imposing a considerable financial burden.

In my view, the government has created a good system to
anticipate such swindles. Unfortunately, the system has been
abused by certain personnel who ignore the suffering of other
people. I would like to request that proper action be taken
against those demanding illegal fees. To ensure the smooth flow
of airport traffic and get rid of corruption.
