Illegal Facelift Practices in Riau: Former Putri Indonesia Finalist Named as Suspect
Riau Provincial Police’s Criminal Investigation Directorate, led by Commissioner Ade Kuncoro Wahyu, has designated JRF as a suspect in the case. JRF had been conducting beauty treatments by posing as a doctor, despite lacking the qualifications.
“The suspect is alleged to have performed medical procedures without the necessary competence or authority as a medical professional. Our investigation revealed that these actions caused serious harm to the victims,” said Commissioner Ade Kuncoro in his statement on Wednesday (29/4/2026).
JRF was apprehended by the investigative team on Tuesday (28/4) at her family’s residence in the Bukit Ambacang area of Bukittinggi City, West Sumatra. She had previously been summoned twice for examination at Riau Provincial Police but failed to appear.
The case came to light following a report from a victim with initials NS, who underwent a facelift and eyebrow facelift procedure at Arauna Beauty Clinic on Jalan Tengku Bey, Pekanbaru, on 4 July 2025. Instead of optimal results, the victim suffered severe bleeding and serious infection on her face and head after the procedure.
“The victim experienced pus-filled wounds, severe swelling, and required further treatment and surgery at several healthcare facilities in Batam,” he added.
Permanent Disability for Victims
Ade Kuncoro stated that the victim suffered permanent disabilities, including scalp scars that prevent hair regrowth and elongated wounds in the eyebrow area.
“One victim even experienced two failed lip surgeries, resulting in permanent disfigurement and psychological trauma,” he added.
During the investigation, the police discovered that there was more than one victim. To date, at least around 15 individuals are suspected to have suffered malpractice from the suspect.
From the investigation, Ade continued, the suspect had been running the beauty practice since 2019 until 2025. The clinic she managed offered various types of aesthetic procedures with varying fees.
“For one procedure, the victim paid up to Rp16 million,” said Ade.
No Medical Background
Riau Provincial Police also revealed that the suspect has no formal education in medicine or health. JRF is known to have attended a beauty training course in Jakarta in 2019 and obtained a training certificate that was actually intended for professional medical or health personnel.
“Based on the examination, the suspect was able to attend the training due to her connections with the organisers,” Ade explained.
Armed with that certificate, the suspect then opened a beauty practice and is alleged to have independently performed various medical procedures on her clients. After a series of investigations, witness and expert examinations, the case was officially elevated to the investigation stage on 26 February 2026.
The investigators then tracked the suspect’s whereabouts and finally succeeded in making the arrest in West Sumatra.
“On 28 April 2026, the individual’s status was officially elevated from witness to suspect after the investigators found more than two valid pieces of evidence,” Ade emphasised.
The suspect has now been brought to Pekanbaru for further examination.
Ade emphasised that Riau Provincial Police will firmly address all forms of illegal practices in the health and beauty sectors that endanger public safety.
“We also urge the public to be more selective and ensure the legality of medical personnel and clinics before undergoing health and beauty treatments,” Commissioner Ade concluded.
