Illegal Electricity Found in Taman Heulang, Bogor Mayor: Is the Meter in the Drain?
Bogor Mayor Dedie A Rachim has called on the state electricity company PLN in Bogor to be more astute in installing power supplies.
He made the remarks after the Bogor City Government discovered an illegal electricity source in a water channel, suspected of supplying street vendors in Taman Heulang on Tuesday (21/4/2026).
Dedie suspects that permit applications for power installations are adjusted to match residents’ ID card addresses.
“Perhaps the ID is correct, but the location like here? Is the location under a tree? That’s impossible. So it’s illegal. Is the meter in the drain? That’s impossible,” Dedie said at Taman Heulang.
“For things like this, PLN must also be astute. If asked to install a meter in a drain, they shouldn’t agree. How can the city be orderly if other elements don’t support it?” he added.
Meanwhile, the Manager of ULP Bogor Timur, Setiadi, stated that two squads and one Electricity Usage Enforcement team (P2TL) were deployed to Taman Heulang.
“We immediately cleared everything, enforced and disconnected all illegal electricity supplies in this area. Perhaps in the future, we should coordinate together before events; maybe PLN can be contacted,” Setiadi told reporters at Taman Heulang on Tuesday.
Initially, the Bogor City Government conducted a survey in Taman Heulang while socialising the arrangement for culinary street vendors.
Upon arriving at Jalan Beo, Dedie and Denny spotted electricity cables in the street vendor area and traced their origin.
Upon learning of this, Denny immediately contacted PLN to cut off the electricity connection.
“There’s a meter here in the drain; if possible, resolve it today in Heulang, please assist,” Denny said when contacting PLN.
Based on the findings on the ground, there were two illegal electricity boxes. The first box contained a kWh meter connected to the second box across the street.
The second box contained a Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) used to distribute electricity to several other street vendors.
The MCB is known as an automatic device that functions to protect electrical installations from overloads and short circuits.
Dedie emphasised that the electricity connection is an illegal installation that could hinder area enforcement.
“It’s an illegal electricity connection. So as long as this illegal electricity connection remains installed, the condition will never stop (enforcement),” Dedie said.
