The Narcotics Unit of the Bekasi City Metro Police has disclosed that the distribution of illegal Schedule G narcotics in Bekasi City remains rampant, now employing a new pattern that is increasingly difficult to detect.

The head of the Narcotics Unit at the Bekasi City Metro Police, Kompol Untung Riswaji, stated that there are two areas with the highest levels of distribution.

“The highest at present are the Rawalumbu and East Bekasi areas,” Untung said when contacted by Kompas.com via message on Wednesday (22/4/2026).

“Now the method has indeed changed to COD. And it has its own characteristics,” Untung added.

According to him, this change in pattern poses a particular challenge for law enforcement officials. The COD method is considered to be deliberately used to avoid supervision by officers.

In the process of uncovering cases, the police have also identified several characteristics of transactions that frequently occur in the field.

One of them is the presence of a person sitting at a certain point, then approached by others, both adults and children, who then carry out a ‘tempel’ system.

“This is based on our investigation and monitoring,” he explained.

Untung emphasised that his side continues to strive to eradicate the distribution of illegal narcotics because of their dangerous impact on society.

He mentioned that consumption of narcotics without supervision can trigger excessive boldness that leads to criminal acts.

In addition to taking action, the police are also opening opportunities for public participation in supervision. Residents are asked not to hesitate to report suspicious activities related to the distribution of illegal narcotics.

“We are open to community groups or residents. Please report to 110 or directly to us, and we will definitely follow up,” he concluded.
