The Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) dismantled and secured a large warehouse used for storing illegal imported cosmetics in the Bojong Nangka area, Kelapa Dua, Tangerang Regency, Banten, in late May 2026. According to official BPOM reports, the raid was initiated following community reports and investigations by a cyber team that detected suspicious large-scale cosmetic distribution activities.

“These illegal imported cosmetic products entered Indonesia without complete importation documents, suggesting they entered through unofficial channels. Illegal cosmetics and imported cosmetics entering Indonesia without meeting applicable regulations cannot have their safety or quality guaranteed. Their use potentially poses health risks to consumers,” stated the Head of BPOM, Taruna Ikrar, in an official press release.

Based on inspection results, BPOM discovered 890 items (comprising 1,818,245 pieces) of illegal cosmetics with an estimated economic value of Rp22.1 billion. Additionally, officers found 66 items (263,794 pieces) of illegal imported cosmetics valued at Rp5.5 billion. The total value of the findings in this operation is estimated to reach a staggering Rp27.6 billion.

The findings are dominated by imported cosmetics from China, specifically within the decorative or makeup product category. These products were reportedly imported into Indonesia through general forwarders suspected of engaging in practices that do not comply with regulations, and were subsequently marketed through various e-commerce platforms.

Several illegal imported brands found in the warehouse include Lameila, SVMY, Sadoer, Kiyomi, Charzieg, Rueiofian, Hymeys, ZYZC, Cwinter, Yayashi, Luodais, and Kekemood. Notably, the Lameila and SVMY brands have been identified in previous BPOM operations and destroyed, yet they continue to resurface in the market.
