Police have uncovered an illegal cigarette production facility in the Miami warehouse area, Kalideress, West Jakarta. The cigarettes, which were intended for distribution outside of Java, are not registered with Customs.

“This cigarette case was uncovered in August 2026 in the Miami warehouse area, Jalan Kayu Besar, Kalideres, West Jakarta. In this matter, several witnesses have been examined and one suspect, with the initials DD, has been named,” said West Jakarta Police Chief, Kombes Nasriadi, during a press conference at the West Jakarta Police Headquarters on Tuesday (1/9/2026).

Nasriadi stated that the illegal cigarettes produced do not include the required health warnings on their packaging, which constitutes a violation of the law.

“Furthermore, they do not include warnings regarding the dangers of smoking, thus violating the Health Law. This is also very dangerous for consumers as there are no warnings provided to the users,” he explained.

Nasriadi further noted that the role of the suspect, DD, was to procure the raw materials for the illegal cigarettes, which were then processed in West Jakarta.

“The suspect’s role is to bring in the materials for the production of these cigarettes from the East Java region; we are still investigating and developing this case. The cigarettes are printed there, and once packaged, they are transported and distributed illegally,” he said.

He stated that the revenue from this production could reach tens of millions of rupiah per month. This operation has been running since 2025.

“He earns approximately Rp 36 million per month. The individual has been operating since December 2025,” he added.

He further noted that these illegal cigarettes are primarily distributed to Sumatra and Kalimantan, with highly competitive pricing.

“These cigarettes are distributed mainly to the inland areas of Kalimantan and Sumatra. The prices are very competitive, so many people are likely to purchase them,” he said.

During the raid, police seized 320 cartons of ‘GP’ cigarettes and up to 400 cartons of ‘Marbol’ cigarettes. Some of the cigarettes were reported to have various flavours.

“There is Marbol melon, various other flavours, Marbol super, and so on, among many other types. You can see that the types, flavours, and colours vary. They do not pay taxes, do not use excise stamps, and do not include health logos or warnings for the public,” he revealed.
