Illegal aliens deported

KUPANG: Forty-one foreigners were deported from Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, throughout last year, according to an immigration official here, Antara reported.

The immigration office's head of Supervision and Action, Surya Pranata, said 25 of the illegal aliens were from Bangladesh, Aljazair, Rumania, Pakistan, mainland China, India, Malaysia and Singapore.

He said some of them were using Kupang as a gateway to seek a living in Australia, by renting boats owned by local fishermen or by working with syndicates.
