Ilham Arief Sirajuddin (IAS) has been unanimously elected as Chairman of the Golkar Party’s Regional Executive Board (DPD I) for South Sulawesi for the 2026-2031 period during the 11th Regional Conference (Musda) in Makassar on Sunday.

Sirajuddin stated his commitment to following the directives from the Musda’s Commission A and Commission B recommendations. He aims to boost the party’s legislative representation, targeting an increase in Golkar’s seats in the South Sulawesi Regional House of Representatives from 14 to 21, and in the national House of Representatives from four to six seats.

He also emphasised that the party’s consolidation process would be completed by 2027, allowing the entire party structure to focus on the upcoming political agenda. Sirajuddin was officially appointed after being the sole candidate to meet the requirements, as the other prospective candidate, Munafri Arifuddin, did not attend the forum or return the registration form. The appointment was marked by the handover of the party flag by the plenary session chair, Mustafa Raja, from the Golkar Party Central Executive Board.
