IKTASA Installs New Leadership, Strengthening the Role of Pesantren Alumni
Pondok pesantren have once again been affirmed as one of the key pillars in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty, not only in the history of the independence struggle but also in shaping character and national values to this day.
This was highlighted during the National Silaturrahim event of the Ikatan Alumni Assalafie–Assalafiat (IKTASA), held in conjunction with the 100th anniversary and the installation of the IKTASA Central Board for the service period 2025–2030. The event took place at Masjid Istiqlal, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (11/4/2026).
The event, themed “Weaving Brotherhood, Strengthening the Chain of Knowledge, and Affirming Steps Together in Blessings”, was attended by around 2,500 male and female alumni from various regions in Indonesia, as well as members of the Advisory Board of Pondok Pesantren Assalafie–Assalafiat Babakan Ciwaringin, Cirebon, West Java.
In his mauidzah hasanah (good sermon), Musytasar of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board, KH Manarul Hidayat, reminded the importance of upholding the three main roles of pesantren: tarbiyah (education), dakwah (enlightenment), and khidmah (service).
“Teachers, alumni, and guardians of students, both in the Assalafie–Assalafiat environment and pesantren in general, should not forget these three main roles. If carried out well, the contributions of alumni will be increasingly felt by society,” he said.
Meanwhile, the pesantren elder KH Azka Hammam Syaerozie read from the kitab Mauidzotul Mu’minin and presented ijazah hadiwu to the attendees.
Another Advisory Board member, KH Aziz Hakim Syaerozie, emphasised the importance of strengthening robitah or bonds among pesantren alumni. According to him, maintained silaturahim will solidify the contributions of alumni to nation-building and the state.
“Through silaturahim, the role of pesantren alumni will be increasingly solid and have a broad impact on society,” he said.
On that occasion, regeneration of IKTASA leadership was also conducted. The position of General Chairman was handed over from KH Asep Saefullah to Dr H Solichin, who was installed through the reading of the leadership oath led by KH Arwani Syaerozi.
The series of events concluded with a collective prayer and fellowship among participants as a reinforcement of brotherhood among pesantren alumni.
