IKPPI: Vice President's Visit to Palembang PSEL Shows Commitment to Tackling Waste

The Indonesian Women Fighters Association (IKPPI) stated that Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s visit to the Waste-to-Energy Facility (PSEL) in Palembang, South Sumatra, demonstrates the government’s commitment to tackling waste problems in Indonesia. IKPPI South Sumatra Chairperson Neni Triana Zainal said the Vice President’s presence was a reaffirmation of the government’s seriousness in addressing waste issues, particularly in Palembang. Neni expressed gratitude for the opportunity to dialogue with the Vice President, who she said had reminded the PSEL management to pay attention to the safety and comfort of the surrounding community. IKPPI Chairperson Sinda Sutadisastra added that the facility is expected to not only generate electricity but also create new jobs and empower local micro, small, and medium enterprises. The PSEL in Palembang is projected to process up to 1,000 tonnes of waste per day into electrical energy, supporting energy security while reducing waste volume. During his visit to the Keramasan site in Kertapati District, Vice President Gibran received an explanation regarding the facility’s development and operational readiness, which is targeted to commence in October 2026. The Vice President also visited Siti Fatimah Az-Zahra Hospital in Jakabaring and reviewed the construction of the Musi Lima Toll Bridge.
