Penajam Paser Utara, Kabar SDGs – The development of the Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) continues to advance at an increasingly rapid pace. Investor confidence in Indonesia’s new capital project is reflected in an investment value that has reached Rp72.39 trillion. This achievement signals that Nusantara is beginning to be seen as a hub of future economic growth.

IKN Authority spokesperson, Troy Pantouw, said that the investment progression shows the ongoing construction process and the early formation of an active urban ecosystem.

‘The total estimated investment of Rp72.39 trillion shows that confidence in the IKN continues to grow. The development of the Ibu Kota Nusantara is the future of Indonesian cities; the way forward is for us to jointly build an ecosystem of living, services, housing, and various economic activities for the community,’ Pantouw said on Monday (18 May 2026).

Of the total recorded investment, Rp60.29 trillion comes from pure private investment. The remaining Rp12.10 trillion comes from the construction of public facilities and assignments to ministries or state agencies.

Data shows there are 75 Cooperation Agreements (PKS) involving 65 business players in the private investment sector. In addition, the government has issued 15 assignments to ministries/agencies to accelerate development in the core Nusantara area.

Investment composition reflects involvement of domestic and foreign investors. Several foreign companies from countries such as South Korea, China, United Arab Emirates, Russia, Malaysia, and Singapore participated in the development of various sectors in IKN. On the other hand, national businesses have also started to invest in various strategic areas.

Capital inflows are spread across important sectors, from housing development, infrastructure, energy, accommodation, sports facilities to commercial facilities. This condition shows Nusantara is being viewed as a region with promising economic potential in the future.

Not only large-scale projects, but supporting economic activities are also developing. The presence of various food and beverage businesses signals the growth of an economy that serves workers, residents, and visitors in the IKN area.

One business that has attracted attention is the arrival of Roti’O stores in the Nusantara area. The operator said public response has been quite high since their opening.

‘Since we opened yesterday, visitor enthusiasm has been fairly high. For the grand opening, more than 100 people came. Here (IKN), it may be crowded, especially for holidays, etc., may be crowded in the future,’ he said.

Troy said the rising investment indicates that the IKN is gradually moving from the phase of physical construction to the formation of a real city life. He said the presence of housing, public services, basic infrastructure, energy, and economic activity will drive the gradual formation of an urban ecosystem.

‘When basic infrastructure, housing, energy, public services, and economic activity begin to form, that is when this city comes to life. This investment becomes a bridge from construction to city life,’ he concluded.
