IKN Becomes a Lebaran Tourist Destination, Hundreds of Thousands Visit
The 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday served as a momentum for the public to get to know the Nusantara Capital (IKN) more closely. During the period from 18 to 29 March 2026, a total of 352,102 visitors crowded the area. The influx of arrivals was accompanied by 80,105 vehicles, ranging from motorcycles, family cars, to tourist buses. According to the Special Staff to the Head of the IKN Authority for Public Communications and also the IKN Authority Spokesperson, Troy Pantouw, services for the public ran smoothly and orderly despite the swelling number of visitors. During the holiday, the State Palace area and the IKN State Mosque became the most visited points. These two new icons in the Core Government Centre Area (KIPP) of Nusantara attracted attention thanks to their modern architectural design and comfortable public space atmosphere. Several other locations also received positive spotlight from tourists, including: The glamping area was said to offer a new experience by combining open spaces with pristine natural views. The two largest public spaces in the area, namely Plaza Seremoni and Plaza Bhinneka, became centres of community activities. There, culinary areas, public interaction spaces, and various forms of entertainment that continue to develop are available. Meanwhile, the Sentra Massa also attracted thousands of visitors. This place serves as the Nusantara information centre, providing educational facilities such as a mini theatre, IKN development scale model, Mini Control Centre, to interactive rides that show the overall development of the area. The IKN Authority assessed that this year’s Eid al-Fitr visit provided an opportunity for the public to witness directly the progress of the new capital’s development. In addition to tourism, visitors can also utilise various available public facilities. The IKN Authority expressed appreciation to all involved parties, including elements of the TNI, Police, local apparatus from Sepaku and Penajam Paser Utara, as well as support from the Ministry of Public Works. Appreciation was also given to health workers, field officers, and tour guides who helped ensure the comfort of visitors.
