IKN Authority Invites Supporting Regions to Manage Waste into Energy
Penajam Paser Utara - The Nusantara Capital Authority (IKN) is inviting the supporting regions for IKN, which is being built in parts of Penajam Paser Utara Regency and Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province, to manage waste into energy. “A joint agreement and cooperation agreement for the implementation of waste-to-energy processing (PSEL) in the Samarinda Raya and Balikpapan Raya regions have been signed,” said IKN Authority Secretary Bimo Adi Nursanthyasto on Saturday, in response to waste management in Sepaku, Penajam Paser Utara. The signing of the joint agreement and PSEL cooperation agreement was carried out by the IKN Authority together with the East Kalimantan Provincial Government, Balikpapan City Government, and Kutai Kartanegara Regency Government. PSEL represents a concrete step in accelerating the implementation of environmentally friendly technology-based waste management, while also promoting the utilisation of waste as a source of renewable energy. “PSEL is an effort to transform waste management in the IKN area towards an integrated, sustainable technology-based system,” he said. The development of PSEL is expected to provide a solution through the application of a regional waste management system in East Kalimantan, particularly in the IKN area, supporting the realisation of an environmentally friendly city, including along the IKN delineation areas, namely Muara Jawa, Samboja, and West Samboja. The IKN delineation areas will directly benefit from the integrated waste management system,” he said. “Waste problems cannot be solved alone; cross-regional collaboration is the only way to create a truly sustainable system,” he stated. The PSEL project in the Samarinda Raya and Balikpapan Raya regions will soon be realised, becoming an important milestone in the development of a modern and integrated regional waste management system.
