IKJ stages 'Montserrat' at GKJ

Watching a drama could be something interesting to do over the current school vacation. And Montserrat, which will be staged by students of the Jakarta Arts Institute (IKJ), could well be a good choice.

Scheduled to be performed at the Jakarta Arts Building (GKJ), Manserrat tells of the Venezuelan independence leader Simon Bolivar, who was helped by Spanish Captain Manserrat to escape the pursuit of the Spanish army.

The army took six innocent people and forced Manserrat to disclose the hiding place of Bolivar, or else they would shoot the people.

"The matter is not about one soul against six innocent souls, but six souls against independence," is Manserrat's popular adage.

Directed by Frans Yosep Ginting, the play will be performed by Teater Lembaga (The Institute's Theater) over three days starting from July 22 at 8 p.m with a tickets priced at Rp 30,000 and Rp 40,000.

GKJ, Jl. Gedung Kesenian No. 1, Central Jakarta. Phone 3441892.
