IKALUIN Award 2026: A Testament to Alumni Contribution and Dedication
The awarding of the IKALUIN Award 2026 to ten influential alumni from various backgrounds by the Central Board of the Ikatan Alumni Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta (IKALUIN Jakarta) is a tangible testament to the contribution and dedication of ADIA/IAIN/UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta alumni. The peak ceremony of the IKALUIN Award 2026 took place at the Harun Nasution Auditorium, Campus I of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, on Saturday (20/6). This biennial award event is a form of appreciation for alumni deemed to have made real contributions and dedication to society, the nation, the world, and humanity. This year’s event marks the third iteration after being previously held in 2022 and 2024. The event was attended by the Rector of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, prominent alumni figures, central and regional IKALUIN administrators, panelists, nominees, award recipients, and alumni from various generations.
Chairman of the Central Board of IKALUIN Jakarta, TB Ace Hasan Syadzily, stated that the IKALUIN Award is not intended as a contest to determine who is the greatest or most superior. According to him, the award is a form of respect for alumni who bring benefits through their work, thoughts, and service. ‘The IKALUIN Award is not a competition to determine who is the greatest or who is the most superior. More than that, this award is a form of real service from ADIA, IAIN, and UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta alumni to those who are considered to have achieved and provided real impact for society, the nation, the state, and humanity,’ Ace emphasised during the event. He added that the greatness of UIN Jakarta alumni is not only shown by those widely known in the national media or who have become public figures. Many alumni work selflessly and without publicity, yet play important roles in addressing various social, humanitarian, and national issues.
Ace noted that each alumnus’s educational journey has a different story. However, the most important thing is not merely the speed of completing studies, but how the knowledge, experience, and networks gained during education are manifested in service. ‘At UIN Jakarta, we are taught a very important spirit, namely real service. Knowledge does not stop in the classroom, does not stop at diplomas, positions, or popularity. Knowledge must be present in action, provide benefits, and answer society’s problems,’ he said. Through the IKALUIN Award, Ace said, IKALUIN wants to continue encouraging ADIA, IAIN, and UIN Jakarta alumni to expand their contributions to the nation, state, and humanity. He also emphasised that the process of determining award recipients was carried out professionally through stages of screening, assessment, team discussion, and finalisation by panelists. The panelists, Ace explained, were not only from within IKALUIN. They involved figures with integrity, independence, and good public track records, so that the selection process could produce award recipients with capacity, capability, and real contributions.
Ace expressed his appreciation to cultural figure and Muslim intellectual Zastrouw el-Ngatawi and the entire team who worked on the selection and determination of the 2026 IKALUIN Award recipients. He also appreciated the Organising Committee Chair, Rahmat Hidayatullah, and all committee ranks who presented the event with a grand, warm, and artistic atmosphere. The IKALUIN Award 2026 presented awards in ten categories to ten figures representing the breadth of alumni involvement across sectors and generations. The recipients were Abdul Halim Ambiya for the Community Empowerment category, Sutrisno Muslimin for the Education category, Yuniyanti Chuzifah for the Gender Equality and Child Protection category, Khalisah Khalid for the Environment and Climate Change category, Oman Fathurrahman for the Religious Thought category, Yati Andriani for the Law and Human Rights category, Saiful Mujani for the Politics and Governance category, Wali Band for the Arts and Culture category, Arafah Rianti for the Young Hero (Influential Youth) category, and KH Zainuddin MZ for the Lifetime Achievement category.
Ace stressed that through this award, IKALUIN hopes that UIN Jakarta alumni will continue to make knowledge a force for bringing about change. ‘This award is not the end of the journey, but motivation to continue working, serving, and providing broader benefits. The IKALUIN Award is expected to be a reminder that UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta alumni have a moral responsibility to make knowledge more impactful for humans and humanity, as well as for the progress of the nation and state,’ he concluded. Support for the peak event of the IKALUIN Award 2026 also came from several partners, including PT Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel), the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH), the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas), MRA Solid Indonesia, and seven media partners.
Meanwhile, in a speech by the Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar, read by the Minister’s Expert Staff for Law, Human Rights, and Religious Harmony, Andi Salman Magalatung, it was conveyed that the Minister emphasised that ADIA/IAIN/UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has given birth to a rational, moderate, and progressive Islamic intellectual tradition. ‘The name of the place where we are now, Harun Nasution, is not just the name of a building, but it is a great symbol. It is a symbol of an era where Islam is discussed rationally, openly, tolerantly, and progressively,’ Salman revealed. Salman explained that the intellectual legacy of figures from ADIA/IAIN/UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, such as Harun Nasution, Nurcholish Madjid (Cak Nur), and Azyumardi Azra, is a crucial asset in facing the challenges of the times.
