IKAL Holds Extraordinary National Congress to Elect Chairman, Lemhannas Governor: Insha'Allah It Will Be Conducive
Ikatan Alumni Lembaga Ketahanan Nasional (Ikal Lemhannas) held a musyawarah nasional luar biasa (munaslub) at the Pancagatra Building of Lemhannas in Central Jakarta on Saturday (11/4/2026). The 2026 Munaslub also serves as a forum to find a new general chairman for Ikal Lemhannas after Agum Gumelar stepped down.
Observations by Republika showed that several prominent figures attended the Ikal Lemhannas Munaslub. Among them were Presidential Special Advisor for Politics and Security Retired General Wiranto, Presidential Special Advisor for Energy Prof Purnomo Yusgiantoro, former TNI Commander-in-Chief Retired Marshal Djoko Suyanto and Retired General Gatot Nurmantyo, as well as former Lemhannas Governor Budi Susilo Soepandji.
Lemhannas Governor Tubagus Ace Hasan Syadzily stated that the implementation of the 2026 Ikal Lemhannas Munaslub is indeed to seek a new general chairman to replace the four-term general chairman Retired General Agum Gumelar. As Chairman of the Ikal Lemhannas Supervisory Board, Ace fully hands over the general chairman election process without intervention.
“We have already given directions in accordance with the existing regulations, that it will go through a screening process within the Munaslub forum. Any participants with voting rights are entitled to nominate candidates for general chairman, and after the top three are determined, the general chairman will then be selected,” said Ace to the media.
When asked who the definitive candidate for general chairman is to replace acting head Mustafa Abubakar, he could not provide details. “Because of that, we certainly cannot speculate because the ones with the rights are the participants, so we leave it to the participants to determine who the new captain will be to lead Ikal Lemhannas,” Ace remarked.
Regarding the potential for dualism still occurring after the general chairman is elected in the 2026 Ikal Lemhannas Munaslub, Ace emphasised that the election process is conducted in a familial manner. “Therefore, insha’Allah, as the chairman of the supervisory board, I must continue to ensure that the conditions remain conducive in keeping Ikal Lemhannas solid in escorting government policies,” he stated.
In Republika’s records, Presidential Special Advisor for National Defence Retired General Dudung Abdurachman once declared himself as the general chairman of Ikal Lemhannas for the 2005-2030 period. However, Dudung’s claim was refuted by Agum’s camp, who felt they were still running the organisation and that there had been no change in the general chairman of Ikal Lemhannas.
