IKA PTKIN Establishes National Forum, Ready to Support Humanitarian Diplomacy for Gaza
The National Meeting of the Indonesian Alumni Association of State Islamic Religious Universities (IKA PTKIN) across Indonesia has officially marked a new milestone. The forum, held from 23-25 April 2026 in Jakarta, agreed to establish a joint platform named the National Communication Forum for IKA PTKIN across Indonesia.
The General Chairman of IKA PTKIN across Indonesia, Idrus Marham, stated that the formation of this forum is a strategic step to strengthen synergies among alumni from 59 PTKINs throughout Indonesia. This forum will serve as a space for consolidating ideas, strengthening networks, and formulating tangible contributions to the nation.
“This national meeting has taken several important decisions. The main one is the establishment of the National Communication Forum for IKA PTKIN across Indonesia. Its organisational structure has also been arranged and will soon carry out various activities,” said Idrus in Jakarta on Friday (24/4/2026) evening.
According to Idrus, this forum will not only function as a means of maintaining ties among alumni but will also become a centre for strategic thinking in responding to various national and global issues. One major agenda to be developed is strengthening intellectual support for Indonesia’s foreign policy, particularly regarding humanitarian issues in Gaza and the struggle for Palestinian independence.
He assessed that the diplomatic steps taken by President Prabowo Subianto in responding to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza need to be supported by conceptual ideas from academics and PTKIN alumni.
“So that we truly provide conceptual support, yes, our thoughts to solidify Prabowo’s position and role as a leader of the Islamic world in resolving humanitarian problems in Gaza and ensuring that Palestinian independence is truly recognised and concretely realised,” he explained.
Idrus explained that discussions on the Palestinian issue have actually been held earlier at several PTKINs, from North Sumatra, Makassar, Jakarta, to Surabaya. The presence of this national forum is expected to unite various such initiatives into one coordinated intellectual movement.
In the future, discussions on strategic issues will be conducted continuously from campus to campus, involving alumni together with PTKIN leaders. According to Idrus, the relationship between the campus and alumni is an inseparable unity in building contributions for the ummah and the nation.
On the same occasion, the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Nasaruddin Umar, welcomed positively the ideas emerging from the forum. He assessed that the current global situation actually opens up great opportunities for Indonesia to emerge as a centre of global Islamic civilisation.
“The current global situation is very appropriate for preparing Indonesia to become the epicentre of future global Islamic civilisation,” said Nasaruddin.
According to Nasaruddin, the stability and conduciveness possessed by Indonesia at present are the main assets for giving birth to superior civilisation. In a peaceful atmosphere, he said, thinkers, scientists, and innovators are born who will shape the future of civilisation.
He is optimistic that Indonesia has all the prerequisites to play that central role. With national stability, intellectual strength, and institutional networks like IKA PTKIN, Indonesia is seen as having a great opportunity to become a new reference for the development of global Islamic civilisation.
“The current global situation is very advantageous and very possible for Indonesia to become the epicentre of the coming global Islamic civilisation,” said this Grand Imam of Jakarta’s Istiqlal Mosque.
