IKA FK Unsri to Monitor Case of Deceased Internship Doctor
Palembang (ANTARA) - The Alumni Association of the Faculty of Medicine at Sriwijaya University (IKA FK Unsri) has expressed its commitment to monitoring the case of the death of a doctor undergoing an internship programme. The doctor reportedly passed away while receiving treatment at Muhammad Hoesin Hospital (RSMH) in Palembang on Friday, after previously serving in the internship programme at K.H. Daud Arif Hospital in Kuala Tungkal. General Chairman of IKA FK Unsri, Achmad Junaidi, stated in an interview in Palembang on Friday that his organisation had reported the case to the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) for follow-up. “The process has already been reported to the centre. The Ministry of Health will conduct the investigation, so we await the results,” he said. He explained that the reporting step was the result of an internal organisational agreement. However, all findings will still be confirmed through the official investigation team from Kemenkes. “If it’s about the cause, please ask the treating doctor. The information suggests a suspicion of pneumonia, but we don’t know exactly because we didn’t handle it directly,” he said. In addition, regarding allegations of bullying in the hospital environment, this will also be part of the Kemenkes investigation. “The suspicion will be investigated by Kemenkes,” he said. IKA FK Unsri is committed to continuing to monitor the case until it is resolved, although full authority lies with the Ministry of Health as the body responsible for the internship programme.
