Jakarta - The Central Board of the BEM Nusantara Alumni Association (PB-IKA) has met with several national figures as part of the organisation’s national consolidation efforts to discuss the future leadership of the younger generation. PB IKA BEM Nusantara’s Wahyu Irawan stated in Jakarta on Tuesday that among the figures met was Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo at his residence in Solo, Central Java, on Monday (15/6). This will be followed by a meeting with Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka scheduled for Wednesday (17/6). The meeting with these national figures marks an important moment for PB IKA BEM Nusantara to absorb views on leadership, nationalism, and the role of the youth in shaping Indonesia’s future. “He (Jokowi) stressed the importance of maintaining unity, strengthening solidarity, and preparing a young generation capable of delivering solutions for society,” Wahyu said. He mentioned that the audiences with several national figures are part of the organisation’s consolidation ahead of the inauguration of the new PB IKA BEM Nusantara board, which will take place on 18 June 2026 in Jakarta. According to him, IKA BEM Nusantara aims to become a big tent for student alumni to produce young leaders with a spirit of dedication to the nation. “We believe Indonesia’s leadership lies in the hands of the younger generation. Therefore, BEM Nusantara alumni must become the engine of ideas, innovation, and collaboration to support the nation’s progress,” said the former Student President of the Islamic University of Jakarta (UID). The series of communications with national figures will continue. The PB IKA BEM Nusantara board is scheduled to be received by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka in Jakarta on Wednesday (17/6). “We want to build constructive dialogue with the nation’s leaders. Together with these two figures, we discussed the importance of preparing a strong, adaptive national leadership succession that is close to the aspirations of the younger generation,” he explained. Wahyu added that communication between the student alumni network and national leaders is crucial to ensure the younger generation is not merely an object of development, but also a key actor determining Indonesia’s future direction. “IKA BEM Nusantara wants to become a big tent for student alumni capable of generating new ideas and leadership for Indonesia,” he said. “The spirit we carry is one of collaboration, unity, and optimism in welcoming a Golden Indonesia.”
