TRAFFIC CUTOFF: A landslide paralyzed traffic between Gowa and
Malino on Wednesday after a section of the connecting highway
collapsed. Another landslide also destroyed a part of the highway
connecting Gowa and Sappaya in Gowa regency on Thursday. Until
Friday evening, traffic along the two roads had yet to return to
normal while the local infrastructure office was still conducting
emergency repair work to the damaged roads.

Heavy rain on Tuesday and Wednesday also caused flash floods,
which claimed five lives in the regency. Hundreds of locals,
whose houses have been destroyed in the flooding, have been
evacuated to safer areas in the regency.
