IIMS Surabaya 2026 Exceeds Target as Regional Automotive Market Thrives
SURABAYA, KOMPAS.com - IIMS Surabaya 2026 has officially closed on a high note. Not only successfully showcasing various automotive brands and entertainment programmes, the exhibition also proved that the regional automotive market, particularly in East Java, remains highly attractive.
Over six days from 26-31 May 2026, IIMS Surabaya recorded 36,203 visitors. This figure surpassed the initial target of 32,000 visitors, serving as a positive signal for the national automotive industry facing various economic challenges.
Rudi MF, Project Manager of IIMS, noted that the high visitor enthusiasm proves automotive industry growth is not concentrated solely in Jakarta. Surabaya and its surrounding regions have emerged as a significant market showing steady positive growth.
“The automotive industry in Surabaya and its vicinity has strong potential and growth. Public enthusiasm during IIMS Surabaya 2026 demonstrates that regional automotive markets are becoming increasingly robust and solid,” Rudi stated in an official release on Monday, 1 June 2026.
Notably, IIMS Surabaya’s success was not solely driven by the display of new cars and motorcycles. Various supporting programmes also attracted visitors, including IIMS Running and padel tournaments as part of the IIMS Sportainment concept, alongside automotive activities such as the IIMS Road Challenge, EV Slow Ride Challenge, Surabaya Heritage Parade with PPMKI, and Taxi Drift performances.
These programmes illustrate the national automotive industry’s growing engagement with education and electric vehicle technology development. For modification enthusiasts, the International Automodified event was a major draw, with various uniquely designed custom cars capturing visitor attention throughout the exhibition.
The success of IIMS Surabaya 2026 provides a strong foundation for Dyandra Promosindo to expand the IIMS Series to other regions. Following Surabaya, the exhibition series will continue with IIMS Balikpapan from 21-25 October 2026 and conclude with IIMS Garage Manado from 4-8 November 2026.
Beyond being a mere exhibition, IIMS Surabaya 2026 demonstrates that Indonesia’s automotive industry is not only growing in the national economic hub. The high enthusiasm from East Java’s public proves regional markets are maturing and ready to become key drivers of the national automotive industry’s future growth.
