IIMS Surabaya 2026: Blending Automotive, Sport and Entertainment

Surabaya — The Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) is once again greeting automotive enthusiasts in the city of Surabaya. After successfully being staged in Jakarta earlier this year, IIMS Surabaya 2026 is set to run for six days at Grand City Surabaya from 26 to 31 May 2026. Not only will it showcase the latest vehicles, this year IIMS Surabaya adopts a different concept. The organisers are blending the automotive world with sport, communities, live music and culinary offerings in a sport-entertainment concept.

Project Manager IIMS, Rudi MF, said the concept represents a new strategy to deliver a broader and more engaging exhibition experience for visitors. “This year, IIMS is indeed leaning more towards sport-entertainment. So it’s not just an automotive exhibition, but there will be activities related to sport and entertainment,” he told journalists including Kompas.com.

As a result, the same concept is now being brought to Surabaya and to several other cities such as Balikpapan and Manado. Moreover, this year’s event area has been expanded significantly. If last year the area was around 10,000 square metres, now the area reaches nearly 12,388 square metres. The addition of a new 1,788-square-metre space in Exhibition Hall 2 is focused on the aftermarket and passenger car sectors.

He said Surabaya is one of the strategic cities for the development of the national automotive industry, particularly in East Java which has a large vehicle market and is supported by the automotive components manufacturing industry. Seeing this potential, organisers are optimistic that visitor numbers and transactions this year will rise. In addition to the passenger car and motorcycle areas, visitors can also enjoy a test drive area, test ride, musical entertainment, and culinary offerings in a single exhibition zone. Not only that, various sporting activities are prepared daily during the exhibition.
