IIGCE 2026 promotes geothermal energy as the foundation for energy transition and resilience
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesia International Geothermal Convention & Exhibition (IIGCE) 2026 is promoting geothermal energy as the foundation or baseload for the new energy transition and national energy resilience. “Energy independence is the foundation for a stronger Indonesia, and geothermal energy is the key to achieving it,” said Julfi Hadi, General Chairman of the Indonesian Geothermal Association (INAGA)/Indonesian Geothermal Association (API), during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday. Furthermore, Julfi stated that the 12th IIGCE also aims to accelerate geothermal energy development by bringing together more than 100 global speakers and attended by thousands of professionals from around the world. He added that this international forum is designed as a strategic platform to bring together global stakeholders, including government, industry players, academics, and investors. “Geothermal energy plays a crucial role as a baseload in the energy transition and ensures national energy resilience. Through IIGCE 2026, we want to strengthen global collaboration to address challenges and leverage opportunities for geothermal development in Indonesia and worldwide,” Julfi said. Under the theme “Energy Self-Sufficiency for a Stronger Indonesia: Geothermal as The Baseload Driving Energy Transition and Security”, IIGCE 2026 arrives at a crucial moment in the national energy transition. “This situation is what drives all stakeholders to jointly accelerate the utilisation of that potential,” he said. IIGCE 2026, Julfi continued, will also serve as a high-level discussion space addressing various strategic issues, from technological innovations in exploration and drilling, sustainable financing and investment schemes, policies supporting the national geothermal industry’s competitiveness, to the role of geothermal in supporting Indonesia’s net-zero emission targets. “This forum is designed to produce concrete policy recommendations and encourage the birth of strategic partnerships between domestic and foreign industry players,” he said. The IIGCE 2026 will be held from 19–21 August 2026 at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC). Over the three days of the event, IIGCE 2026 will feature high-level conferences, interactive panel discussions, exhibitions of the latest technology and innovations from leading global geothermal companies, as well as various strategic side events including business matching, technical workshops, and networking sessions. “IIGCE 2026 is not only a platform for sharing knowledge but also a place for the birth of strategic partnerships, investment agreements, and innovative solutions to global geothermal development challenges,” said Aditya Rakit, Chairman of the IIGCE 2026 Organising Committee.
