IHSG Today 22 June 2026: Plunges to 6,063 as Global Pressures Begin to Bite
The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) came under heavy pressure in early week trading on Monday, 22 January 2026. After opening slightly stronger in the morning session, the index reversed course and went into freefall into the red by mid-session. Based on trading data up to 10:54 a.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB), the IHSG recorded a significant plunge of 115 points, or a 1.85% decline, to the 6,063 level. This drop erased the gains seen at the start of trading when the index had touched the 6,217 mark. The sharp correction occurred amid growing market concerns over the escalation of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. News of fresh threats from US President Donald Trump against Iran, along with Iran’s restrictions on traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, served as negative catalysts triggering a sell-off in the domestic equity market. In addition to external factors, the market is also closely watching crucial support levels. As analysed by Kiwoom Sekuritas, the 6,030 to 5,930 range is an important defensive area for the IHSG. If selling pressure continues until the close of the second session, the index risks testing the psychological level of 6,000. Investors are advised to remain vigilant against high volatility, given that sentiment from the energy market and global inflation remains highly dynamic. The market’s next focus will be on the response of monetary authorities and developments in diplomatic negotiations on the international stage.
