IHSG Surges 2.78% in a Week as Foreign Investors Return with Rp1.24 Trillion in Net Purchases

The Indonesian Composite Index (IHSG) closed the trading week with a 2.78% gain for the period of 3–7 August 2026. However, foreign investors still recorded a high cumulative capital outflow for the year to date.

PT Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) Corporate Secretary Kautsar Primadi explained that the IHSG closed at 6,409.654 on Friday (7/8/2026), up from 6,236.126 at the end of the previous week. “BEI’s market capitalisation increased by 2.64% to Rp11,212 trillion from Rp10,923 trillion the week before,” he said in a statement on Friday (7/8/2026).

He added that share trading activity also strengthened significantly throughout the week. The average daily transaction volume recorded the highest increase of 32.98%, reaching 39.95 billion shares from 30.04 billion shares the previous week. Furthermore, the average daily transaction frequency rose 27.62% to 2.32 million transactions compared to 1.82 million transactions the week before. Meanwhile, the average daily transaction value was relatively stable, changing by 0.38% to Rp15.38 trillion from Rp15.44 trillion the previous week.

On Friday’s trading (7/8/2026), foreign investors recorded net purchases of Rp1.24 trillion. Nevertheless, cumulatively throughout 2026, foreign investors still recorded net sales of Rp71.29 trillion.

At Friday’s close, several stocks contributed the most to the IHSG’s strengthening. Shares of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (BBRI) were the main support, rising 2.96% and contributing 13.14 points to the index. Next, shares of PT DCI Indonesia Tbk. (DCII) strengthened 2.77% with a contribution of 5.64 points, followed by shares of PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (TLKM) which rose 2.26% and contributed 5.54 points to the IHSG.

Shares of PT Amman Mineral Internasional Tbk. (AMMN) also strengthened 1.85% with a contribution of 3.37 points. Meanwhile, PT Indosat Tbk. (ISAT) was one of the stocks with the highest price increase among the top leaders, surging 14.21% and contributing 3.27 points. Shares of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk. (BMRI) rose 0.95% and contributed 3.27 points to the IHSG.

Amid the market strengthening, BEI also recorded a new milestone in the development of the national capital market. By the close of trading on Friday (7/8/2026), the number of capital market investors officially surpassed 30 million Single Investor Identifications (SID), reaching exactly 30,274,265 SID. Throughout 2026, the number of capital market investors has increased by 9,926,440 SID, or grown 48.78% year-to-date. Meanwhile, the number of stock investors also surpassed 10 million SID, reaching exactly 10,052,059 SID, an increase of 1,447,882 SID or 16.83% compared to the end of 2025. This achievement reflects the increasingly broad public participation in the capital market, amid improving trading activity and index strengthening during the first week of August.
