IHSG Surges 1% Ahead of Market Close
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) surged 1% in trading on Tuesday (4/8/2026), driven by widespread buying across the majority of stocks and improving global market sentiment.
Based on data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI), at 15:48 WIB the IHSG strengthened by 62.31 points, or 1%, to 6,296.81. Throughout the session, the index moved in a range of 6,238.40 to 6,299.35, approaching the psychological level of 6,300.
Transaction value reached Rp11.16 trillion, with a trading volume of 30.37 billion shares across 2.20 million transactions. A total of 414 stocks were in the green, 244 stocks declined, while 305 stocks remained unchanged.
In the first session, the IHSG was at 6,270.15, up 35.66 points or 0.57% compared to the previous close at 6,234.50.
Today’s gains were also supported by foreign investors who began recording net buys in the first session. Based on Stockbit Sekuritas data as of midday, foreign investors booked a net buy of Rp39.5 billion across all markets, reversing course after recording a net sell of Rp708 billion in the previous session.
Interestingly, foreign funds flowed back into large-cap banking stocks. PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA) was the stock with the largest net buy, worth Rp78.5 billion, followed by PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk (MDKA) at Rp62.5 billion, PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI) at Rp50.2 billion, and PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBNI) at Rp36.8 billion.
On the other hand, foreign investors continued their selling action on a number of commodity and basic material stocks. PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (TPIA) again became the stock with the largest net sell, reaching Rp137.1 billion, followed by PT Amman Mineral Internasional Tbk (AMMN) at Rp56.3 billion, PT Merdeka Gold Resources Tbk (EMAS) at Rp21.2 billion, PT Aneka Tambang (Persero) Tbk (ANTM) at Rp16.8 billion, and PT Pabrik Kertas Tjiwi Kimia Tbk (TKIM) at Rp16 billion.
