IHSG Strengthens by 2.3 Percent This Week

The Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) recorded a 2.35 percent strengthening of the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) over the week. The IHSG closed at 7,634 on Friday’s trading, 17 April 2026. In contrast, the previous week, the IHSG closed at 7,458. “Share trading data at PT Bursa Efek Indonesia for the period 13–17 April 2026 closed in positive territory,” said Acting Head of Corporate Secretary of BEI, Valentina Simon, in an official statement quoted on Saturday, 18 April 2026. The highest increase occurred in the average daily transaction volume this week, which rose 33.12 percent to 42.98 billion shares from 32.28 billion shares the previous week. The average daily transaction frequency increased to 2.72 million transactions from 2.05 million transactions last week. That figure rose 33.12 percent from the previous week. Meanwhile, the average daily transaction value increased by 15.46 percent. The average daily transaction value rose to Rp20.36 trillion from Rp17.32 trillion the previous week. BEI’s market capitalisation increased by 3.38 percent to Rp13,635 trillion from Rp13,189 trillion the previous week. Meanwhile, foreign investors recorded net sales of Rp931.61 billion on Friday, 17 April 2026. Accumulated throughout this year, foreign investors have recorded net sales of Rp39.86 trillion. On the other hand, the rupiah plunged to its weakest level at the end of trading this weekend. The rupiah exchange rate closed at Rp17,188 per US dollar, or down 50 points on Friday afternoon, 17 April 2026.
