Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) opened flat at the start of trading today, Tuesday (19 May 2026). The IHSG was flat at 6,599.21. 82 stocks declined, 239 advanced, and 301 unchanged. Turnover Rp202.40 billion with 265.33 million shares traded in 36,702 transactions.

Meanwhile, Asia-Pacific stock markets opened higher on Tuesday as world oil prices eased after United States President Donald Trump delayed a previously scheduled military strike on Iran.

According to CNBC, market participants view the move as potentially reducing the risk of a Middle East escalation that has weighed on global sentiment for months.

West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures for June fell 1.27% to US$107.28 per barrel at 20:01 ET. Brent crude for July fell 2.67% to US$109.11 per barrel.

Investors also monitored Japan’s first-quarter 2026 GDP data, which grew 2.1% year-on-year in the first three months of the year, beating Reuters-survey expectations of 1.7% and exceeding the previous quarter’s growth of 1.3%.

However, the data does not fully reflect the impact of the war with Iran, which began in late February. Japan’s economic strength supported domestic equity movement, with the Nikkei 225 up 0.68% and the Topix up 1.16%.

Market participants also highlighted a bilateral meeting between Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and South Korea’s President Lee Jae Myung scheduled for today. In South Korea, the Kospi fell 1.06%, while the small-cap Kosdaq moved higher.

In Australia, the ASX rose 1.08% at the start of trading. Meanwhile, Hong Kong Hang Seng futures were at 25,558, down from the last close of 25,675.18.
