JAKARTA — Trading activity at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) in the final week of May 2026 was shortened due to national holidays and public holidays. This resulted in only three effective trading days for market participants that week. According to the BEI’s 2026 Holiday Calendar, trading was suspended on Wednesday, 27 May 2026 for Eid al-Adha. Trading was also halted on Thursday, 28 May 2026 due to the Eid al-Adha public holiday. Thus, stock trading for the last week of May occurred only on Monday, 25, 26 and 29 May 2026. The shortened trading week could impact market movements as transaction liquidity is typically more limited than usual. Market participants also tend to be more cautious in positioning ahead of the extended holiday. Brigita Kinari, Equity Analyst at PT Indo Premier Sekuritas, projected the IHSG would be volatile during 25-29 May 2026 but had potential for a limited technical rebound. This week’s trading activity is expected to be more sensitive and sharply volatile due to the market operating for only three days because of the national and public holidays for Eid al-Adha on 27-28 May 2026. “Domestic investors remain focused on the certainty of implementing the one-stop export policy for strategic commodities via Danantara, effective from 1 June 2026,” Kinari said on Monday. “This certainty has left volatility in energy and raw materials stocks as investors assess the impact on national export distribution structures,” she added. Technically, Kinari noted the IHSG remains well below the 50-day moving average (SMA-50) at 7,166, indicating a dominant medium-term weakening trend. “The index’s momentum remains relatively weak, reflected in the MACD indicator staying in negative territory without strong reversal signals, meaning recent gains are still viewed as technical rebounds and not a confirmation of a major trend change,” she added.
