In other sentiments, investors also noted that New York Federal Reserve President John Williams stated that the Fed still has time to examine economic data before raising interest rates again. However, one additional hike may be necessary before the end of 2026.
Meanwhile, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, assessed that the fluctuations in the IHSG and the rupiah are market dynamics that need to be viewed from a medium-term perspective. The government, alongside Bank Indonesia, is said to be continuously monitoring exchange rate movements, while short selling transactions have also been reactivated on the Indonesia Stock Exchange since 15 September 2026.
