The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) managed to reverse its course and strengthen during the first trading session on Friday (14/8/2026), closing up 35.42 points, or 0.56%, at 6,337.19. The rebound occurred as President Prabowo Subianto delivered his speech at the MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR-DPD RI at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta. The index had previously closed at 6,301.77 on Thursday (13/8/2026). Trading was quite volatile, with the index dipping to a low of 6,267.41 before reversing to touch a high of 6,343.11.

According to data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange, by the end of the first session, 305 stocks had advanced, 315 declined, and 343 remained unchanged. Transaction value reached Rp6.48 trillion, with a trading volume of 17.04 billion shares across 1.03 million trades. The IHSG’s rise was supported by seven of the eleven sectors, led by the basic materials sector which climbed 1.35%, while the financial sector bucked the trend, weakening by 0.21%.

Despite the index’s gain, data from Stockbit Sekuritas showed that foreign investors recorded a net foreign sell of Rp377.63 billion across all markets during the first session. Total foreign transaction value reached Rp3.84 trillion, comprising foreign buy orders of Rp1.73 trillion and foreign sell orders of Rp2.11 trillion. The largest foreign selling was seen in PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk. (TPIA), which recorded net sales of Rp213.13 billion, far exceeding other stocks. This was followed by PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk. (DSSA) at Rp67.61 billion and PT Petrindo Jaya Kreasi Tbk. (CUAN) at Rp55.57 billion. Other notable foreign sales included PT Indosat Tbk. (ISAT) at Rp48.17 billion, PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk. (BREN) at Rp38.10 billion, and PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk. (BMRI) at Rp34.78 billion.

On the buying side, several stocks remained targets for global investors. PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (BBRI) was the most collected by foreign investors with a net buy of Rp43.65 billion, followed by PT Aneka Tambang Tbk. (ANTM) at Rp33.13 billion. Foreign investors also snapped up PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas Tbk. (VKTR) for Rp24.05 billion, PT Adaro Andalan Indonesia Tbk. (AADI) for Rp13.25 billion, and PT Bumi Resources Tbk. (BUMI) for Rp13.04 billion.
