Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesia Stock Exchange’s (IDX) Composite Index (IHSG) has the potential to move sideways on Wednesday amid a combination of global and domestic sentiments.

The IHSG opened 28.51 points, or 0.47 per cent, higher at 6,068. Meanwhile, the group of 45 leading shares, or the LQ45 Index, rose 2.61 points, or 0.44 per cent, to 601.50.

“The IHSG has the opportunity to consolidate within the range of 5,950-6,125 in Wednesday’s trading,” said Phintraco Sekuritas Head of Research Ratna Lim in her review in Jakarta on Wednesday.

From abroad, United States (US) inflation was recorded at 3.5 per cent year on year (yoy) in June 2026, down from 4.2 per cent (yoy) in May 2026.

Meanwhile, core inflation was recorded at 2.6 per cent (yoy) in June 2026, from 2.9 per cent (yoy) in May 2026.

In addition, the pace of US Producer Price Index (PPI) inflation is expected to slow to 6.2 per cent (yoy) in June 2026, from 6.5 per cent (yoy) in May 2026.

“Slowing inflation data has reduced expectations of a potential Fed rate hike at the end of this month. Fed Chair Kevin Warsh, testifying before Congress, said that the inflation increases of the past five years will be behind us,” said Ratna.

From the Asian region, China’s exports rose 27 per cent (yoy) in June 2026, up from 19.4 per cent (yoy) in May 2026. Imports likewise grew 36 per cent (yoy) in June 2026 from 27.4 per cent (yoy) in May 2026.

As a result, China’s trade balance surplus widened to US$125.62 billion in June 2026, from US$105.43 billion in May 2026.

On the other hand, investors are awaiting China’s GDP growth, which is expected to slow to 4.5 per cent (yoy) in the second quarter of 2026 from 5 per cent (yoy) in the first quarter of 2026.

From the domestic front, the IDX has added a Price-Impact Ratio criterion to its methodology for screening shares with potential high shareholding concentration (HSC).

The IDX will screen shares that experience significant price changes without being supported by adequate transaction activity.

The Price-Impact Ratio is a comparison between the change in a share’s price and its trading velocity.

Velocity is the average transaction volume compared with the number of shares in public circulation.

Shares with low transaction volumes but large price increases will produce a high Price-Impact Ratio and become subject to supervision for potential inclusion in the HSC category.

Alongside the new criterion, the IDX has added 37 shares to the HSC share list, bringing the total to 51 shares.
