IHSG Plunges 5.91 Per Cent in a Week, Indonesia Stock Exchange Market Capitalisation Falls Rp949 Trillion
JAKARTA — The Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) reported significantly weak performance in the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) during the trading period of 9-13 March 2026.
The IHSG closed the week at 7,137.212 points or down 5.91 per cent compared to the previous week’s position of 7,585.687 points.
BEI Company Secretary Kautsar Primadi Nurahmad stated that the weakening of the index was accompanied by a decline in market capitalisation at the Indonesia Stock Exchange.
BEI market capitalisation was recorded as falling 6.96 per cent or equivalent to Rp949 trillion to Rp12.678 trillion, from Rp13.627 trillion in the previous week.
“The average daily transaction frequency of BEI also changed by 31.54 per cent to 1.87 million transactions from 2.73 million transactions at the close of the previous week,” said Kautsar in his statement.
Meanwhile, the average daily transaction volume of BEI for this week also experienced a change of 25.49 per cent to 31.55 billion shares from 42.34 billion shares in the previous week.
Foreign investors recorded a net selling value of Rp117.17 billion throughout this week. In terms of accumulation since the beginning of 2026, foreign investors recorded a net selling value of Rp8.85 trillion in the Indonesian stock market.
The IHSG closed weaker in Friday (13 March 2026) trading. The index ended at 7,137.212 points, down 224.904 points or 3.05 per cent compared to the previous day’s close.
The weakening of the index was also reflected in the dominance of falling shares. A total of 629 shares fell, with only 104 shares rising and 86 shares moving sideways.
In terms of trading activity, transaction volume reached 28.69 billion shares with a transaction value of Rp14.049 trillion, whilst transaction frequency was 1,606,804 times.
