The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) ended trading on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, with a sharp decline. The IHSG plunged 95.982 points, or 1.48 percent, to 6,405.685.

The decline occurred after the IHSG had moved in positive territory at the start of trading. However, mounting selling pressure caused the index to reverse direction and eventually close at its lowest level of the day.

According to trading data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), the IHSG opened at 6,507.142. The index rose to an intraday high of 6,532.171 before selling pressure dragged it down to 6,405.685. The lowest level reached by the IHSG thus became the closing position for the day.

Selling pressure was evident from the majority of stocks traded throughout the session. Of all shares changing hands, 583 stocks declined, while 118 advanced and 89 remained unchanged.

Transaction activity was also relatively high. Share trading volume reached 42.085 billion shares, with a transaction value of Rp18.086 trillion. The IHSG’s decline was broad-based, as all 11 stock sectors were in negative territory. The transport and logistics sector posted the deepest decline at 4.15 percent. Property and real estate followed with a 2.71 percent drop, while the energy sector also corrected significantly, falling 2.61 percent.
