IHSG Opens Slightly Higher This Morning, Up 0.19%
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) opened higher in Thursday’s trading (23/7/2026), having ended a nine-day rally the day before.
According to Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) data, at 09.00 WIB the IHSG stood at 6,346.62, up 12.14 points (+0.19%) from the previous close of 6,334.48.
At the start of trading, 250 shares advanced, 80 declined, and 635 were unchanged. Transaction value reached Rp140.2 billion with a trading volume of 311.5 million shares traded across 32,820 transactions.
The IHSG’s movement in Thursday’s trading is expected to be influenced by a combination of domestic and global sentiment. Domestically, market players are watching Bank Indonesia’s (BI) decision to once again keep its benchmark interest rate (BI Rate) at 5.25%, in line with market expectations.
The policy is seen as capable of maintaining financial market stability, although it is not yet enough to drive a significant return of foreign funds.
In the previous session, the IHSG halted its nine-day winning streak after closing slightly lower by 0.09% at 6,334.48. A total of 367 shares corrected, 281 advanced, and 317 were stagnant.
Transaction value remained busy at Rp18.52 trillion with a volume of 44.63 billion shares across 2.7 million transactions, indicating trading activity remained high amid profit-taking.
Foreign investors also still recorded net sales of Rp920.3 billion in the regular market. The selling was concentrated in large-capitalisation shares such as PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk (DSSA), PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI), PT Astra International Tbk (ASII), PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (TPIA), and PT Amman Mineral Internasional Tbk (AMMN).
On the other hand, foreign investors continued to accumulate several shares such as PT Pacific Strategic Financial Tbk (APIC), PT Timah (Persero) Tbk (TINS), PT Aneka Tambang (Persero) Tbk (ANTM), PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk (BNBR), and PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI), indicating portfolio rotation.
Externally, the market is still monitoring the strengthening of the US dollar amid expectations that the Federal Reserve will maintain higher interest rates for longer.
This condition means flows of funds into developing-country assets, including Indonesia’s, remain selective. Market players are also awaiting the release of several global economic data releases that could act as catalysts for financial market movements in today’s trading.
