Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) opened higher in trading on Tuesday (21/7/2026), extending a rally that has now lasted nine consecutive trading days.

According to Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) data as of around 09.00 WIB, the IHSG rose 0.67%, or 41.79 points, to 6,273.57.

At the start of trading, transaction value stood at around Rp215 billion, with trading volume reaching 317.7 million shares changing hands in 39,400 transactions. A total of 259 shares advanced, 47 declined, whilst 659 were unchanged.

The IHSG entered Tuesday’s (21/7/2026) trading session on a positive footing after recording a rally lasting eight consecutive trading days. Since 9 July, the index has gained around 6.1% and is now trading above the psychological level of 6,200, supported by foreign funds beginning to flow back in, gains in jumbo-capitalised bank shares, and S&P Global Ratings’ decision to maintain Indonesia’s credit rating at BBB with a stable outlook.

Market players will today be monitoring a number of domestic and external catalysts. Domestically, attention is focused on the start of Bank Indonesia’s Board of Governors Meeting (RDG), which will set the direction of interest rates, as well as plans to ratify the Indonesia International Financial Centre (PFII) bill in the House of Representatives.

The market will also be watching the Financial Services Authority’s (OJK) statement that the national banking sector remains sound, with credit growth reaching 11.5% year on year.

Externally, investors remain shadowed by escalating conflict in the Middle East after the Houthi group announced a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia. The renewed tension has sparked concerns over global energy supplies and driven oil prices higher.

Meanwhile, China’s central bank held its Loan Prime Rate (LPR) steady, whilst the US dollar index and US Treasury yields strengthened once more, potentially weighing on fund flows to emerging markets, including Indonesia.
