IHSG Opens Higher This Morning, Up 0.23%
The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) opened higher in trading on Friday (26/6/2026), continuing its recovery effort after managing to record a gain in the previous session. At the opening of trading at 09.00 WIB, the IHSG rose 0.23%, or 13.62 points, to 6,012.66. Transaction value was recorded at approximately Rp186.4 billion, with a trading volume of 168.8 million shares traded in 25,030 transactions. A total of 262 shares strengthened, 104 shares weakened, while 593 shares were stagnant. Entering Friday’s trading, the IHSG’s movement is expected to be overshadowed by a combination of external and domestic sentiment. From abroad, the market is observing strengthening US economic data, which could reinforce the Federal Reserve’s hawkish stance. Meanwhile, domestically, investors are responding to the increase in the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation’s (LPS) deposit guarantee interest rate and developments regarding the planned issuance of Indonesia’s Panda Bond. Externally, the US Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) inflation in May 2026 rose to 4.1% year-on-year, the highest since April 2023 and well above the Fed’s 2% inflation target. At the same time, the US economy was revised to have grown 2.1% in the first quarter of 2026, higher than previous estimates, while jobless claims fell to 215,000, indicating the labour market remains solid. The combination of reheating inflation and a persistently strong economy increases the likelihood of the Fed maintaining higher interest rates for longer, which could support the US dollar and pressure fund flows into emerging markets, including Indonesia. Domestically, the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) raised the deposit guarantee interest rate for rupiah deposits in commercial banks to 3.75% for the period of 1 July to 30 September 2026. This step was taken to maintain the credibility of the guarantee rate amid rising interest rates and pressure on the rupiah exchange rate. Additionally, the government confirmed that the issuance of yuan-denominated Panda Bonds is still targeted for early July 2026. This instrument is part of the government’s strategy to diversify financing sources while expanding funding access in the Chinese financial market.
