IHSG Opens Higher, Poised for Rebound; Asian Markets Mixed, Wall Street Rallies
The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) opened 19 points, or 0.35 percent, higher at 5,662 on Wednesday, 1 July 2026. Head of Retail Research Analyst Fanny Suherman predicted the IHSG has the potential to rebound during today’s trading. “The IHSG has the potential to rebound today,” Fanny said in her daily research note. She noted that Asian markets moved variably on Tuesday, with the majority posting gains. Japan’s Nikkei 225 index rose 0.86 percent, and the Topix strengthened 0.32 percent. Meanwhile, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng fell 0.63 percent and Australia’s ASX 200 weakened 0.51 percent. Taiwan’s Taiex soared 2.5 percent and South Korea’s Kospi added 0.97 percent. On the other hand, the Straits Times weakened 0.73 percent and the FTSE Malaysia fell 0.11 percent. Another sentiment driver was Japanese equities following the global positive trend after the US and Iran agreed to cease hostilities and renew negotiations regarding the Strait of Hormuz. “IHSG support is at the 5,500-5,600 level, while resistance is in the 5,800-5,950 range,” she stated. Wall Street closed higher on Tuesday, with a rally in technology stocks, particularly in the semiconductor sector, pushing all major US indices to end the first half and second quarter of 2026 with impressive performance. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.26 percent, reaching an all-time high. The S&P 500 gained 0.79 percent, and the Nasdaq Composite surged 1.52 percent. The market rally was led by a surge in chipmaker stocks, with Nvidia rising 2.6 percent, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) soaring 7.7 percent, and Intel gaining 6 percent.
