The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) opened 10 points, or 0.17 percent, higher at 6,141 at the start of trading on Wednesday, 29 July 2026. Head of Retail Research Analyst, Fanny Suherman, predicted the IHSG would rebound during today’s trading. “The IHSG has the opportunity for a short-term technical rebound today,” Fanny said in her daily research note on Wednesday.

Asian markets weakened in Monday’s trading. Japan’s Nikkei 225 index plunged 3.95 percent and the Topix fell 2.52 percent. In South Korea, the Kospi index tumbled 10.8 percent and the Kosdaq slumped 7.7 percent. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng, however, strengthened 0.41 percent and Australia’s ASX 200 rose 0.61 percent. Taiwan’s Taiex weakened 4.65 percent and China’s CSI 300 fell 2.83 percent. The FTSE Straits Times fell 0.07 percent and the FTSE Malay KLCI slipped 0.04 percent.

Asian bourses saw significant corrections in chip-related stocks, following a varied close on Wall Street in the previous session. Sentiment in the chip sector was further pressured after China began producing locally made immersion deep ultraviolet (DUV) lithography machines, a technology previously dominated by Dutch firm ASML. The news sent ASML shares down 2.9 percent. In South Korea, SK Hynix shares fell 9 percent, while Samsung Electronics tumbled 13.4 percent. In Japan, Kioxia shares plunged 18 percent and Tokyo Electron fell 11 percent.

“IHSG support is at the 6,050-6,100 level, while resistance is in the 6,170-6,230 range,” Fanny stated. For context, Wall Street closed mixed, with the S&P 500 strengthening on gains in Boeing and Coca-Cola, which helped offset declines in chip stocks ahead of quarterly reports from Apple and other technology companies this week. The S&P 500 closed 0.21 percent higher, the Nasdaq Composite fell 0.22 percent, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.03 percent.
