IHSG Opens Higher on 26 August 2026, Then Corrects
The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) showed high volatility in trading on Wednesday (26/8) morning. After opening in positive territory, the index immediately reversed direction into negative territory due to fairly massive selling pressure at the start of the session.
Based on trading data received, the IHSG at this morning’s opening actually briefly strengthened by 5.47 points, or around 0.08 percent, to 6,507.14. However, the euphoria of the strengthening did not last long. Not long after the opening bell rang, market pressure began to be felt, dragging the index to its lowest level this morning.
The IHSG was observed to have plunged to 6,489, or a decline of around 11 points from the previous closing position. This fluctuation indicates profit-taking or investor response to developing global and domestic market sentiment.
The pressure at the 6,489 level indicates negative sentiment overshadowing share movements on the exchange. Market participants are advised to continue monitoring the movement of blue-chip stocks and trading volume to see the potential for a rebound or further weakening until the close of the first session.
As of the time this report was filed, the IHSG was still moving dynamically in the range of 6,480 to 6,500. Investors are expected to remain alert to market volatility occurring amid global economic uncertainty that may affect foreign capital flows in the Indonesian capital market.
