IHSG Opens Higher, Attempts to Break Resistance Alongside Asian Markets; Wall Street Mixed
The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IHSG) opened 17 points, or 0.30 percent, higher at 5,893 at the start of trading on Monday, 6 July 2026. Head of Retail Research Analyst Fanny Suherman predicted the IHSG has the potential to break resistance during today’s trading. “The IHSG has the potential to try to break resistance at 5,900-5,950 with an upside target of 6,000-6,150,” Fanny stated in her daily research note on Monday. She noted that Asian markets strengthened during Friday’s trading last week. Japan’s Nikkei 225 index rose 1.47 percent and the Topix gained 1.24 percent. Similarly, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng strengthened 1.28 percent, Taiwan’s Taiex rose 0.08 percent, and Australia’s ASX 200 added 1.37 percent. In South Korea, the Kospi index rebounded, surging 5.76 percent, while the Kosdaq gained 0.19 percent. The FTSE Straits Times rose 0.26 percent and the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI increased 1.04 percent. The strengthening came as investors continued to rotate out of technology stocks, following declines on Wall Street. The semiconductor sector fell for a second consecutive day, weighing on the two Nasdaq indices. The US market was closed on Friday for the Independence Day holiday. “IHSG support is at the 5,780-5,850 level, while IHSG resistance is in the 5,950-6,000 range,” she added. Wall Street stock indices closed mixed. The Dow Jones Industrial Average hit an all-time high after weaker-than-expected US labour data raised hopes that the Federal Reserve would hold off on raising interest rates. Conversely, the Nasdaq weakened due to a massive sell-off in semiconductor stocks. The Dow Jones surged 1.14 percent, the S&P 500 closed nearly flat at 7,483.24, while the Nasdaq Composite fell 0.8 percent.
