IHSG Opens Higher as Market Watches US-Iran Deal
The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) opened higher on Monday, gaining 39.91 points or 0.65 percent to 6,217.05. The LQ45 index of top 45 stocks rose 4.74 points or 0.78 percent to 614.14.

Globally, market attention remains on negotiations between the United States and Iran after official talks in Switzerland were cancelled. US Vice President JD Vance withdrew, while Iran requested proof of implementation of a memorandum of understanding before continuing negotiations. Communication between the two parties is still ongoing amid fresh threats from US President Donald Trump against Iran and Iran’s decision to again restrict traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
Liza stated that the fragile implementation of a peace agreement means risks to energy markets, inflation, and global sentiment must continue to be monitored.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that Russia is preparing a large-scale offensive. Separately, the United Kingdom is accelerating the development of new long-range missiles for Ukraine without dependence on US technology.
Market participants are also scrutinising comments from Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller for clues on the direction of US interest rates following a Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) outcome that was more hawkish than expected.
On the domestic front, investors are awaiting MSCI’s Annual Market Classification Review announcement on Wednesday morning (24/6/2026) to determine Indonesia’s market status, whether it remains in the emerging market category or is downgraded to frontier market.
