The Indonesian Stock Exchange (IHSG) opened 25 points higher, or 0.42 per cent, at 6,187 on Monday, 25 May 2026. Head of Retail Research at BNI Sekuritas, Fanny Suherman, predicted the IHSG could face another correction today. “The IHSG is likely to correct again today,” Fanny said in her daily research report.

She said Asian markets rose collectively on Friday’s trading session last weekend. Investors are closely monitoring US-Iran diplomatic developments as efforts to reach a Middle East peace deal continue. In Asia, Japan’s Nikkei 225 surged 2.7 per cent, while Topix rose 1 per cent. South Korea’s Kospi climbed 0.4 per cent and the Kosdaq jumped 5 per cent, driven by gains in technology and growth stocks. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 advanced 0.4 per cent, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng added 0.7 per cent. Meanwhile, Japan’s core inflation for April 2026 exceeded expectations, dampening the likelihood of an imminent Bank of Japan rate hike.

Core inflation in Japan, excluding fresh food, stood at 1.4 per cent — lower than the expected 1.7 per cent and down from 1.8 per cent in March. “Support for the IHSG is at 5,900-6,100, with resistance between 6,200 and 6,250,” she added.

US stock markets closed higher on Friday, supported by easing US government bond yields. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.58 per cent, the S&P 500 gained 0.37 per cent, and the Nasdaq Composite added 0.19 per cent. Market hopes for a potential easing of US-Iran tensions also boosted positive sentiment. Reuters reported that a Qatari delegation, coordinated with the US, had flown to Tehran to help broker a deal to end the conflict.

Brent crude rose 0.9 per cent to $103.54 per barrel, while WTI increased by around 0.3 per cent to $96.60 per barrel. Among individual stocks, semiconductor firm Qualcomm’s shares surged nearly 12 per cent, marking three consecutive days of gains.
