Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) opened higher in early trading on Monday (20/7/2026), amid mixed movements across Asian exchanges and a wait-and-see attitude among investors ahead of a series of important central bank agendas this week.

Based on data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) via IDX Mobile, at 08.59 WIB the IHSG stood at 6,197.48, up 21.95 points or 0.36% compared to the previous close.

The gain was supported by the majority of stocks in positive territory. A total of 238 stocks rose, 54 declined, while 673 remained unchanged. Transaction value reached Rp152.2 billion with a trading volume of 191.6 million shares across 43,550 transactions.

The IHSG’s movement today is expected to be influenced by the wait-and-see stance of market players ahead of a series of important economic agendas this week. The main focus is on the interest rate decisions of Bank Indonesia (BI), the People’s Bank of China (PBoC), and the European Central Bank (ECB), amid continued global uncertainty driven by the Middle East conflict, surging energy prices, and potential supply chain disruptions.

On the domestic front, the market expects BI to keep its benchmark rate at 5.75% on Wednesday (22/7/2026). That decision is seen as potentially positive for domestic assets, as the rupiah has begun to stabilise and inflation remains within BI’s target range. However, market players will also be watching the central bank’s signals on the exchange rate outlook, inflation, and the future direction of monetary policy.

Externally, investors are also focused on China’s Loan Prime Rate (LPR) decision, ECB interest rates, and Japanese trade and inflation data, all of which could shape expectations for global central bank policy. Meanwhile, developments in the Middle East conflict and world oil price movements remain risk factors that could trigger volatility in financial markets throughout the week.
