IHSG Gains Modestly in Morning Session: Big Caps Under Pressure, MEDC, CDIA, BRPT Plunge
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) posted a limited gain at the close of the morning trading session on Thursday (7/5/2026). The index rose 0.36% to the level of 7,117.978.
However, the index’s upward momentum began to lose steam amid pressure on several large-cap stocks.
Gains in jumbo banking stocks actually remained the main support for the IHSG during the first trading session.
Shares of PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk (MEDC) weakened by 5.8%, followed by shares of PT Chandra Daya Investasi Tbk (CDIA) which fell 4.3%, and shares of PT Barito Pacific Tbk (BRPT) which corrected by 3.0%.
In more detail, MEDC shares became one of the stocks with the deepest weakening after dropping 5.81% or correcting 100 points to the level of Rp 1,620.
MEDC shares once moved to the highest position of Rp 1,720, before selling pressure caused the price to continuously weaken approaching the day’s lowest level.
Shares of this issuer fell 4.35% or weakened by 50 points to the Rp 1,100 area.
The movement of CDIA shares showed a gradual weakening trend throughout the morning trading session.
After moving in the Rp 1,200 area at the start of the stock exchange trading, selling pressure caused the shares to continuously correct until touching Rp 1,095.
BRPT shares once reached the highest level in the Rp 2,440 area, before finally reversing to weaken due to investor profit-taking actions.
In fact, BRPT shares once fell to the Rp 2,140 level before slightly trimming the weakening.
From a sectoral perspective, infrastructure and healthcare became the two sectoral indices with the largest gains among the seven sectors moving in the green zone.
