IHSG Gains 133 Points at Close Today; Three Top Gainers in the LQ45
Indeks Harga Saham Gabungan (IHSG) finished higher, climbing 133.47 points or 1.76 percent to 7,710.54 at the close of trading on Thursday, 5 March 2026. Based on VIVA’s monitoring via Stockbit, the index moved mostly sideways after an initial rally, trading within the 7,678 to 7,765 range. Turnover reached Rp 17.94 trillion with a transaction volume of Rp 344.06 million across 2.08 million trades. Nearly all sectors posted gains, with the transportation sector the sole decliner, down 0.13 percent. The cyclic consumer sector rose 3.40 percent, followed by a 2.80 percent increase in the industrial sector, and a 2.63 percent jump in the raw materials sector. “In line with expectations, the IHSG managed a rebound, supported by positive sentiment from stronger global stock indices and bargain hunting, although some profit-taking occurred in parts of the market after rallies, particularly in the oil and gas sector,” said a Phintraco Sekuritas analyst in their daily research on Thursday, 5 March 2026. Most indices in Asian exchanges also rebounded on Thursday, 5 March 2026. The rupiah, however, closed weaker at Rp16,905 per US dollar amid broad Asian currency weakness. Technically, Phintraco Sekuritas’ analysts note that the Stochastic RSI indicator is in oversold territory and could reverse, although the MACD continues to show a widening negative histogram. “Investors will be watching Indonesia’s February 2026 foreign exchange reserves data, which may again fall as the rupiah continues to depreciate,” added the Phintraco Sekuritas analyst. Phintraco Sekuritas also reported three stocks among the top gainers in the LQ45: PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SMGR) whose shares rose 6.80 percent or 170 points to 2,670. PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk (MDKA) gained 5.54 percent or 190 points to 3,620. PT Surya Citra Media Tbk (SCMA) rose 5.13 percent or 12 points to close around 246.
