The Indonesia Composite Index (IHSG) underwent a correction, yet recorded a sharp decline at the close of trading on Wednesday (3/6/2026). The IHSG closed down 4.11%, or -254.36 points, to the level of 5,941.07. A total of 75% of issuers, or 726 companies, were in the red zone, while only 75 issuers were in the green and 158 remained unchanged.

Transaction value reached Rp 24.96 trillion, involving 35.83 billion shares across 2.71 million transactions. Market capitalisation also slumped to Rp 10,455 trillion. According to Refinitiv, the raw materials and healthcare sectors saw the deepest corrections, at -9.23% and -6.37% respectively. Two major banks and Salim-affiliated mining stocks were the primary drags on the IHSG. These included Bank Central Asia (BBCA) -28.1 points, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BBRI) -21.95 points, and Amman Mineral Internasional (AMMN) -17.62 points, followed by Telkom Indonesia (TLKM) -10.44 points and Bank Mandiri (BMRI) -9.39 points.

Alongside the IHSG correction, foreign investors recorded a net sell of Rp 525.4 billion throughout the session. Foreigners recorded sales of Rp 5.7 trillion and purchases of Rp 5.2 trillion. The two issuers most heavily sold by foreign investors were Bank Central Asia (BBCA) and Chandra Asri Pacific (TPIA), with net sells of Rp 263.7 billion and Rp 244.5 billion respectively. This was followed by Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BBRI) with a net foreign sell of Rp 195.2 billion and Dian Swastatika Sentosa (DSSA) at Rp 94 billion.

The IHSG correction has brought the index to its lowest level in five years. The last time the IHSG closed at a level lower than today’s trading was in May 2021, during the market rebound following the 2020 pandemic crash. The pace of correction this year indicates that the IHSG is moving backwards rather than forwards, with nearly all the gains achieved since the post-pandemic economic recovery now evaporating.

For context, the IHSG’s lowest level during the peak of the pandemic closed at 3,937 on 24 March 2020. The all-time high (ATH) for the IHSG was recorded on 20 January 2026 at 9,134. Within nearly six years, the IHSG was able to rise by 132%, and from its pre-pandemic peak, it rose by 36%. However, the IHSG is currently under high pressure and is experiencing a continuous sharp decline. A major question remains for investors: how long will the IHSG continue to plummet, and has it reached a bottom, or will it continue towards pandemic-era lows?
